Two pro-Palestinian protesters have caused lengthy traffic delays in Perth's CBD by parking a truck across a road, climbing atop it, and locking themselves to each other.
Perth activist Liam Cross and another protester are on top of a hired Budget truck parked across Wellington Street outside the Perth Train Station. Traffic has stopped in both directions.
Police have brought a crane in. Around 50 officers are on the scene.
In a statement, the activists said they intended "to call attention to the suffering of innocent people in Gaza and the complicity of those who have chosen to turn a blind eye or directly supported the illegal occupation and invasion of Palestinian land and the genocide and ethnic cleansing campaign being carried out by the fascist colonial apartheid state of Israel."
"As we undertake this action, there are 200+ Palestinians who have been slaughtered by the Israeli Occupation Forces in Nuseirat and hundreds more are being treated for their injuries without access to aid, electricity, medical supplies, food and water. Millions of people are being forcibly starved and the death toll will only continue to rise. The invasion and illegal occupation of Palestine must end immediately."
Protesters say they will remain on the truck for as long as possible.
